Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper presents a vascular navigation system (VNS) for the aid of laparoscopic surgery. In laparoscopic surgery, it is very important to operate blood vessels around a target organ. Since blood vessels have differences in their locations and branching patterns, it will be effective to understand their connections in prior to the surgery. We therefore propose the VNS having a function that extracts blood vessel regions of interests. Since this function analyzes the tree structures of blood vessels, it can extract distal blood vessels from the interested blood vessel. In addition, a user can observe the outside view of a blood vessel along the medial line of it. We applied the proposed method to three cases of abdominal CT images. Experimental results showed that a surgeon could select vessels of interest.
