Abstract(in English) | We examine plausibility of the hypothesis that, in object holding tasks, the human beings plan different kinds of motor information such as digit forces and postures using the internal representation of the held object based on the same performance index. In psychophysical experiments, the digit forces and postures of three subjects varied according to visual features related to size and orientation of held objects. In computer simulations, integrating visual information of the held objects, measured digit forces and postures, a neural network model acquired the internal representation in which visual features related to size and the orientation of the held objects and a motor feature related to position of digits were coded. Moreover, this model transformed visual information into the digit forces and postures in natural holding tasks. We suggest that the proposed model corresponds with the PIP-AIP-F5 circuit in the primate's brain. |
