A Fixed IV Value Independent Key Recovery Attack against WEP

Abstract(in English) Key recovery attacks against WEP based on weak IVs, which leak information of a private key, have been shown. Since each previous key recovery attacks use a specific set of weak IVs, existing WEP usually uses IVs except for such weak IVs. Notice that this countermeasure is effective only when the set of weak IVs does not depend on the private key. In this paper, we propose a key recovery attack such that the set of weak IVs independent of value of IV and depends on outputs of WEP. By the simulation, we show that our attack more efficiently recovers a private key than brute force attack and there is no secure IV for all private keys, if all weak IVs used in all privious key recovery attacks are removed. In addition, there are private keys to ratio of 2^<-30> which recovered in complexity of 2^<40> by our attack.
