Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A 4-element array antenna and a 4-channel W-CDMA receiver are used for the experiment of MUSIC-based estimation of direction of arrival (DOA). In order to improve the accuracy of DOA estimation, two approaches are used to evaluate the steering vector which includes the effects of mutual coupling between array elements as well as the unequal gain and phase responses of 4 channels in the receiver. One approach is directly measuring the array element pattern at the IF output ports of the receiver, and the other is a hybrid approach where the array element pattern is numerically evaluated and then compensated by a 4 by 4 matrix which is obtained by measuring the S parameters between RF input ports and IF output ports of the receiver. The hybrid approach does not need the troublesome array element pattern measurement but a simple S parameter measurement. The experimental results of MUSIC-based DOA estimation show that the hybrid approach to evaluate the USV is a practical and effective method to eliminating the errors caused by the mutual coupling and RF channel gain and phase.
