Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) H-II Transfer Vehicle (HTV) is automated, unmanned logistic transporter to the International Space Station (ISS). PLS antenna of the HTV will communicate to PROX antenna of the Japanese Experiment Module (JEM) of the ISS when HTV is approaching to the JEM. Since the multipath interference from ISS structure has the possibility of serious impact on actual communication, the analysis of radiation pattern included multipath influence is necessary to confirm the validity of communication. This paper describes the radiation pattern and communication analysis with ISS structure using the Uniform Geometrical Theory of Diffraction (UTD) technique. Complicated ISS structure has been transferred to be a valid simplified analysis model consists of polyhedron and cylinder, and paddle and radiator rotations are also included in the analysis model. Communication level has been also calculated by PROX and PLS antenna radiation patterns with considering HTV trajectory. Good correlations between analysis and measurement of the radiation pattern with scale model designed based on 1/13th scaling have been obtained, and the validation of the analysis have been confirmed.
