Evaluation of Translation Repair Work using Back Translation

Abstract(in English) Translation repair is the method of generating messages which have few translation mistakes plays an important role in intercultural communication using machine translation. However, it is not evaluated how accuracy result of translation repair that people had rewritten original sentence has. We experimented the translation repair of Japanese-English, Japanese-Chinese and Japanese-Korean, and evaluated the translation repairs and their costs. As a result of the experiment, it is shown that the subjects were able to correct the translation results to more accurate sentences using average seven-time translation repair, and the accuracy of the translation sentence improved.
