Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Magnetoencephalography (MEG) is one of noninvasive methods to investigate human brain activity with high temporal resolution. While measuring of event-related MEGs using visual stimuli, there must exist eyeblinks, which generate large magnetic artifacts on the MEGs. Therefore, the signal-to-noise ratio of the event-related signals would be reduced. In this study, a method for removing artifacts using pricipal component analysis (PCA) and independent component analysis (ICA) was discussed. Furthermore, we proposed automatic methods for artifact identification based on a cost function and validation of selected components. Tests performed on 7 subjects led to the successful identification and removal of eyeblink artifacts in all trials containing eyeblinks of all subjects.
