Abstract(in English) In this report, a novel optical single side-band (SSB) signal generation method based on the optical Hilbert transformer implemented by a sampled fiber Bragg grating (sampled FBG) is proposed. First of all, the basic principles of the optical transversal filtering using the sampled FBGs and the optical SSB signal generating filter which converts any double side-band (DSB) optical signal into the optical SSB signal are described. Consequently, it is shown that, in such the optical SSB signal generating filter, an optical Hilbert transformer is needed and it is implemented by the optical transversal filter by the all-optical signal processing based on the sampled FBG. An asymmetrical Mach-Zender interferometer having this optical Hilbert transformer in the one arm is able to be used as the optical SSB signal generating filter with several tens GHz bandwidth and a steep side-band reduction characteristics. Finally, a numerical result of the demodulated signals from the optical SSB signals generated by the proposed optical SSB generating filter is shown. The result clearly shows that the proposed scheme for the optical SSB signal generation works fine.
