Abstract(in English) | The authors analyze degradation of transmission quality of 10G-PON system due to SPM-GVD effect. We confirm severe distortion in optical waveform due to SPM-GVD effect. We investigate the relation between Q-value and received power changing a number of branches, and find that Q-values fall below 7 either for too-small received power or for the too-large number of branches. For currently practical systems with the number of branches no more than 32 and with the received optical power of -13dBm, however, we find no evidence of transmission penalty. To mitigate with the waveform distortion, we consider two schemes. One is an active double star (ADS) system, which employ on optical amplifier before branching, and the case of giving a prechirp at the OLT output. While the simulation result of the ADS system shows an improvement in the optical waveform, that of the prechirp-imposig does not show such effectiveness. |
