Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) An ultra-small, low-power sensor node equipped with UWB (Ultra Wideband) transmitter is developed. Miniaturization techniques are applied to achieve 1-cc-volume size, such as bear chip implementation of a microcontroller and the transmitter. We also apply low-power techniques such as transition of microcontroller status to a standby mode using an external real time clock during a wait time, power shutdown of halted circuits, and detailed control of UWB transmitter status. As a result of evaluation, transmitted spectrum satisfies the spectrum mask of FCC (Federal Communications Commission) rule. Wireless communication at a distance of 30m and 10m is achieved with transmission rate of 250kbps and 10Mbps, respectively. An average current consumption is 1.8μA in case of five-minute intermittent operation, and the battery life is estimated 9 years with battery capacitance of 150mAh.
