Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes the IEEE802.11 standard and its amendments. IEEE 802.11 denotes a set of Wireless LAN/WLAN standards developed by the IEEE 802.11 Working Group. IEEE 802.11 Working Group is defining standards regarding the physical (PHY) layer and media access control (MAC) layer. 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g and 802.11i standards are widely used. 802.11b and 802.11g standards use the 2.4GHz band and 802.11a uses the 5GHz band. 802.11i provides security enhancements over the previous 802.11 security method. Recently, 802.11e has been approved as a standard that defines a set of Quality of Service enhancements. This paper also introduces the activities of the Task Groups which are working to create new amendments for standards. Task Groups n, r, and s are currently standardizing for the specifications for the next-generation high-speed wireless LAN over 100Mbit/s of throughput, fast roaming, and mesh networking, respectively.
