Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The presence of specialists cannot be always expected in ER to treat immediately. A specific CAD system will be of assistance to unaccustomed physicians to ER cares. In this work, we have developed an automated detection method in locating active bleeding areas in the liver. Using FWHM value of the peak of the histogram of an abdominal scan including a liver, most of the liver region with normal blood flow and the CT values are determined. After the determination of whole liver regions, the active bleeding regions within liver are detected using threshold technique. Feature analysis approaches based on the average CT value and the size is also employed to eliminate false-positive regions after the initial detection. Thirty trauma cases including 22 active bleeding regions were employed to estimate the detection performance in this work. Twenty-one out of 22 regions were detected correctly with 2.5 false-positive findings per case.
