Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Because the spatial resolution of PET is rather low, around 2 or 3[mm], partial volume effect isn't ignorable. And, it is known that Projection Onto Convex Sets algorithm (POCS) is useful for super resolution in image processing, thus POCS is expected to be effective for partial volume correction of brain PET images. POCS enables various image processing by combining basic POCS operations such as incorporation of nonnegativity as a projection onto a convex set in Hilbert space. However, there is ambiguity in the selection of POCS operations, and it influences the performance on POCS. In this study, the impact on partial volume correction is investigated by using three kinds of closed convex sets: outlier in residual, non-negative and energy constraint. As a result, the best performance was archived when all three operations were combined in the meaning of the stability in estimated pixel values, restoration of edges, and preservation of total count.
