A study on the Free Space Optics systems in a single-mode fiber transmission

Abstract(in English) We have studied a Free Space WDM (Wavelength Division Multiplexing) system using 1.31/1.55μm wavelength to realize a seamless bilateral communication system in which the optical fiber network and the optical wireless network are connected without any photoelectric devices. A Free Space Optics (FSO) system is inserted between two optical connectors of single-mode optical fibers. A collimator lens is attached to each optical connector, and faces to the opposite lens each other. A laser beam control system is also equipped within the FSO system to compensate the fluctuations of the laser beam positioning and to stabilize the transmission performance. We propose the newly developer method to adjust the axes of two collimators. After the laser beam control system is installed in one side of the FSO system, fundamental experiments are conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed system.
