Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The authors set up a harmonic/rational harmonic mode-locked fiber ring laser system and demonstrate that stabilized pulses can be generated at a repetition rate more than 10GHz by using two techniques, one is to coordinate modulation wave form and the other is to employ both an erbium-doped fiber amplifier and a semiconductor optical amplifier. By tuning the bias voltage and RF amplitude of the LN modulator, we can generate two light wave-forms, sinusoidal and CS-RZ. The use of CS-RZ wave form leads to stable generation of optical pulses with a high repetition rate without enhancing the electrical bandwidth of the modulator. Stable pulse trains are generated by employing both an erbium doped fiber amplifier and a semiconductor optical amplifier simultaneously.
