Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Wave field synthesis (WFS) is attracting interest in Europe. WFS is a technology that allows a loudspeaker array at the reproduction side to synthesize a wave front that is equivalent to the wave front at the recording side. A cylindrical wave front travels as a circler wave on the horizontal plane and as a plane wave on the vertical plane. The perceived direction of the virtual sound source is invariant with regard to position in the listening area when plane wave field synthesis (PWFS) is achieved. Cylindrical wave field synthesis (CWFS) allows us to localize a virtual sound source at any listening position. We introduce a CWFS implementation that uses a regular loudspeaker array. A synthesized wave front is evaluated using a wave front numerical methods and measurements.
