Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Lexical Functional Grammar (LFG) is one of the linguistic theories for deep natural language analysis. This paper reports the Japanese parsing and generation system, Japanese grammar writing, and their application technology based on LFG we have developed. The evaluation experiments using Japanese EDR corpus show that the Japanese LFG system attains 85.9% precision and 83.9% recall of dependency accuracy, 97.3% of sentence analysis coverage, and 95.7% of sentence generation coverage. The natural language analysis systems based on a deep linguistic theory such as LFG and Head-driven Phrase Structure Grammar can output richer information compared with the analysis systems based on shallow approaches. The deep natural language technologies will play an important role for more sophisticated natural language processing applications because their performances in accuracy and coverage are approaching the quality for practical use. In this paper we explain the information extraction method in which the Japanese LFG system is applied to medical text as an example of the applications using the deep natural language technology.
