On-line Probabilistic Factorization for Recovering 3D Shape and Motion from Image Streams

Abstract(in English) One of the major drawbacks of the factorization method, which recovers 3D shape of feature points and camera motion from image stream, is that it fails to account for missing feature points. In real-environments, however, missing points happen frequently due to occlusion and frame out of features. In this study, we propose probabilistic factorization method by employing Variational Bayes to obtain posterior of 3D shape. Our method is also able to be modified as recursive form easily, and recursive method overcomes the another drawback of factorization; its computation cost especially with long image streams. These methods achieve robust recovering, witch is demonstrated by real experiments of 3D face reconstruction as well as computer simulations of rigid object.
