Abstract(in English) We fabricated an A4-sized flexible display using an ferroelectric liquid crystal (FLC) and flexible backlight sheet. The backlight sheet was composed of side lights of three-primary-color LED chips and a flexible-polymer thin light guide plate to obtain high flexibility. To improve the molecular alignment of a composite film of the FLC and fine polymer fibers near polymer walls, plastic substrates with low thermal distortion was used and a compounding ratio of liquid crystal and monomer was adjusted. A fabricated A4-sized flexible display exhibited color moving images by driving with an active matrix technique using external switch transistor array based on a field-sequential-color method.
