Optical Compensation of MVA-LCDs with Circular Polarizers

Abstract(in English) We have demonstrated that drastic improvement in the panel transmittance of Multi-Domain Vertical Alignment (MVA) LCDs was achieved by using circular polarizers. But the problem of the viewing angle performance of MVA-LCDs with circular polarizers was not fully resolved so far. In this study, we report on one of the methods to improve the viewing angle properties of the MVA-LCDs by using uniaxial compensation films.
