Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently Ethernet based services are widely provided by communication careers. Because both Ethernet OAM mechanism and Ethernet point-to-point linear protection switching mechanism are standardized by ITU-T, the reliability of Ethernet services reaches to the same level as that of SDH or ATM based services. Although these OAM and protection switching mechanisms realize reliable Ethernet services, the scope of the protection switching mechanism are currently limited to point-to-point Ethernet services. Therefore the study of protection switching mechanism for Ethernet multipoint connectivity had been just started in ITU-T. This paper proposes Ethernet OAM configuration and new OAM messages for Ethernet ring protection which enables reliable multipoint connectivity. Also further study items regarding Ethernet ring protection are summarized.
