Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical packet switching network is expected to be one of the major solutions for recent increase of traffic in IP backbone network for decreasing power consumption and device costs. However, optical devices cannot provide functions of complex logical operations and optical RAM is still far from deployment. Therefore, it is difficult to realize IP network by optical packet switching. We propose an optical packet switching architecture that simplifies the forwarding of the optical packet node to enable the packet forwarding in an optical domain. In this paper, we clarify the composition of the optical packet node to achieve the proposed architecture, and report an implementation of optical label update unit and a validation system. We confirmed that label update was performed and showed the feasibility of this architecture.
