Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Optical burst switching (OBS) can transmit bursty traffic effectively, and hence it is expected to utilize the OBS in next-generation all-optical networks. In terms of wavelength reservation, burst assembly, contention resolution, and priority control, several techniques have been proposed in the literatures. Moreover, various OBS nodes have been developed and the functions of OBS network have been experimentally validated. Currently, OBS techniques for providing network services have been studied and the standardization of the techniques is in progress. In this paper, we show technical trends of the OBS and describe recent activities and issues for providing network services in OBS networks.
