Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) People with hearing impairments see both Signer and Japanese subtitles when they see the signed video. The subtitles are usually shown on the screen either from top to bottom or from left to right. In this paper we investigate how a person reads and recognizes subtitles when they see the signed video. This paper reports a comparison experiment of various patterns of signed video with subtitles. Each video has either columnar or vertical subtitles, and distance between signer and subtitle is also changed for comparison.
