Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In this paper, for the purpose of establishment of seamless and highly robust contents distribution technology in the environment of so-called multi-server contents distribution network, we focus on the Forward Error Correction(FEC) as an error recovery method and propose the new concept, Inter-Stream FEC, that means data recovery method between several streams by redundant parity streams generated by inter-stream cooperation. As an attractive merit, the Inter-Stream FEC method can be implemented independently of the existing per-content FEC methods. As a result, the impairment by heavy packet dropping in the local part of the network can be recovered by using other healthy original streams and parity streams. After the detail of our proposed method is described, we evaluate our proposal by computer simulation and confirm its efficiency.
