Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, the number of FTTH (Fiber To The Home) subscribers are increasing rapidly in Japan. And they are expected to be going to increase further in the future. In such a situation, easier construction drawing the fiber in to each home is desired in order to offer optical internet services immediately. Especially, it took time for the connection by fusion splice or mechanical splice, because it requires operators to handle 0.25mm diameter fiber. Moreover, there was also a problem of having to cut the optical fiber when service was changed and to construct it again. To satisfy these demands, we have developed this field assembly optical connector with the new interface that can be in a high density mounted for wiring in aerial closure. And we report on the structure and various characteristics of this developed connector.
