Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) There have been some reports on the improvement of the glass multimode fiber bandwidth by using mode-limiting excitation. However, there has been no numerical analysis of the relationship between mode dispersion and excitation mode condition. Therefore, we have been proposing a novel mode transfer model for estimating the excitation mode condition. Using this model, we can calculate the pulse width broadening, which is proportional to the mode dispersion. In this paper, we measured the pulse width broadening of some MMFs to confirm the validity of the model. As a result, the proposed model is useful to calculate the pulse width broadening and to predict the bandwidth of MMF.
