Abstract(in English) Variable capacitors realized with radio frequency micro-electro-mechanical system (RF-MEMS) technology are promising as variable devices at high frequency bands to realize reconfigurable systems such as software defined radio receivers. The authors fabricate an ESPAR antenna, one of adaptive antennas using RF-MEMS variable capacitors (VC) and evaluate its performance. In this paper, the structure of the RF-MEMS VC and the adaptive antenna using the variable device are presented, also the adaptive control method for beamforming and experiment setup for evaluation are shown.
