Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) For future mobile services, the development of "reconfigurable RF circuits" for mobile radios is expected to operate among different wireless communication standards and spectra. As a part of research on the reconfigurable RF circuits, this paper presents a novel scheme for a multi-band power amplifier (PA) and a tunable filter. The PA employs a low-loss reconfigurable matching network with RF-MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems) switches. By controlling the on/off status of each RF-MEMS switch, the PA achieves multi-band amplification. The proposed tunable filter comprises tunable resonators and coupling circuits. The tunable resonator has a comb-shaped end-shorted transmission line and switches. Resonant frequency of the resonator changes according to the state of the switches. Besides these proposed devices, this paper also describes recent research and development activities on RF-MEMS switches.
