Abstract(in English) This paper investigates the optimum pilot channel structures for time division multiplexing (TDM) based Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS) in the OFDM based Evolved UTRA downlink. We first explain the necessity for a L1/L2 control channel in the same sub-frame, in which the MBMS channel is multiplexed. Then, simulation results show that a cell-specific scrambled pilot channel with the spacing of every six sub-carriers is sufficient from the viewpoint of the packet error rate (PER) of the L1/L2 control information. Moreover, it is shown that the cell-common scrambled pilot channel is more appropriate to the MBMS channel because it achieves better PER performance than the cell-specific scrambled pilot channel with repetition pilot symbols, particularly in a high mobility environment. We also show that CDD (Cyclic Delay Diversity) achieves better PER performance than STBC (Space-Time Block Code) for the MBMS channel and that the cell-common scrambled pilot channel structure with two symbols in the time domain, a three sub-carrier spacing in the frequency domain (the resultant pilot overhead of 11.1%) is the most promising cell-common scrambled pilot channel structure for MBMS.
