Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) OTDR based techniques are normally used for the length wise characterization of optical fibers. In this paper, a dispersion managed optical fiber transmission system has been characterized in terms of chromatic dispersion longitudinally. In this work almost zero accumulated dispersion has been achieved. The transmission link has been constructed with four different SMF and a Reverse Dispersion Fiber (RDF) which is having negative dispersion. A pig tail fiber has been used to provide an interface between SMF and RDF, which are having a huge difference of mode field diameter. The measurement has been done with a highest level of accuracy. Therefore, it is found that the obtained results are different from the old technique and the accumulated chromatic dispersion is influenced around its zero value by the splicing loss occurred at the interface of each fiber of the dispersion managed transmission system.
