Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study, as one of the studies on tree-planting support for preventing global warming, describes an monitoring method for the state of physiological activities in plants by measuring electric ground impedance of the root. Since the daily physiological activities of the plant depend on water quantities pumped up by the root, the results measured continuously, related with water content, might be considered as an index of the activities. Materials used in the experiments are Chinese juniper and walnut trees. These are measured during short or long periods, and discussed on the real and imaginary parts of the ground impedance. The results showed a clear periodicity in daily changes. Further, it was found that the patterns in daily changes were different from other seasons
