Noise Suppression with High Performance using Kalman Filter

Abstract(in English) We propose a noise suppression algorithm based on Kalman filter. The algorithm achieves a noise suppression with high performance under the condition of the AWGN (additive white Gaussian noise), from the canonical state space models with (i) a state equation composed of the clean speech signal and (ii) an observation equation composed of the clean speech signal and AWGN. The special features of the proposed algorithm are (1) simple noise suppression using only the Kalman filter, while the conventional algorithm utilizes the linear prediction and the Kalman filter and (2) realization of high performance noise suppression without sacrificing speech quality of the clean speech signal. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
