Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) With the development of the broadband IP networks, video distribution, communication and IPTV services are becoming common rapidly. In order to provide these services appropriately, we must design, monitor and manage them based on subjective video quality. Therefore, for the achievement of this scheme, an objective quality assessment method that enables video quality to be evaluated from video characteristics easily and quickly is needed. Authors have already proposed the objective video quality assessment method for freeze distortion in video communication services by considering perceptual characteristics of freeze distortion. In this conventional method, we derived the objective video quality under the assumption that all freeze lengths in the video are constant. However, it was impossible to derive objective video quality when arbitrary freeze lengths occurred by network degradation in real services. Therefore, we propose objective video quality assessment method for arbitrary freeze lengths by expanding the conventional method, and verify the accuracy of proposed method by the result of subjective assessment.
