Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of social skills on physiognomic features and facial expressions. 79 Chinese undergraduates (38 males; 41 females) expressed straight, happy and anger faces and were photographed using three-dimensional measuring instrument. Results revealed that higher scores on social skills seldom related to more expressive facial features about Chinese. The discriminant analysis showed that females needed many physiognomic features to discriminate affective communication skills than males and physiognomic features. Notably, females revealed many physiognomic features about happy face, and males revealed many features about angry face. About females, expressive expression around eyes related to higher basic social skills. We discussed these results in relation to previous studies about Koreans.
