Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We propose a novel visualization technique for mobile robot control which integrates 2D images and 3D range data acquired by an omnidirectional camera and an omnidirectional laser range sensor. Using these data, perspective and panorama views, and a 3D miniature model are presented to the operator on a hemispherical dome display. Through empirical studies, it was found that the panorama view is useful for a searching task, that the 3D model is useful for both controlling and searching tasks, and that our method is at least equivalent and mostly superior to existing methods.
