Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Composite resonators, which are formed by placing the external reflection mirror to the VCSEL, are attractive due to possibility of new functions. We considered the oscillation condition of the composite resonator. We derived the transfer function of the composite resonator. By using the transfer function, we made clear the relationship between threshold gain and the reflectivity of the reflection mirror and the change of oscillation spectrum response. It is made clear that there are two oscillation modes, which are caused by in-phase and out-phase coupling between the two cavities when the external cavity length is much longer than that of the VCSEL cavity. Furthermore, we made clear the variation of the output power due to the variation of the loss and the cavity length of the external cavity and the frequency deviation due to the cavity coupling in case that there are several longitudinal modes.
