Adhesives for Fabricating Optical Devices

Abstract(in English) Adhesives for fabricating low-cost and high reliability optical devices were developed. Using new compounds (epoxies, acrylates and vinyl sulfide containing fluorine, bromine, and sulfur), refractive indices of UV-curable transparent adhesives can be controlled, in the range of 1.41-1.70 within ±0.005. Because their refractive indices were controlled precisely, they could be used for optical path connections to realize good transmittance and good durability. New-developed water-resistant cyanoacrylate adhesive were applied to assembling multi-connectors. Its processing time could be reduced to be one-third of conventional processing time. These developed adhesives are promising materials for realizing los-cost and high reliable optical devices for optical communications systems.
