Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Various applications of fiber Bragg gratings have been proposed, such as fiber-type narrow band filters or gain-flattening filters for EDFA. We have successfully fabricated an ultranarrow band FBG filter with a linewidth of 1.3GHz by using a 15cm-long polarization-maintaining fiber. In this paper, we describe the details of the fabrication of the FBG and its characteristics. The maximum reflectance and side lobe suppression of the FBG were 65% and 13dB, respectively.
