Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We designed the S-band, C-band and L-band DFB lasers for CWDM application. In CWDM systems, uncooled and directly modulated DFB lasers are used, and the eight wavelengths spaced by 20nm from 1470nm to 1610nm are multiplexed. Then, in the eight wavelengths, each laser has been demanded to have similar characteristics such as threshold currents and slope efficiencies. In order to improve the laser performances, we designed the lasers to decrease the internal loss values among these bands. As a result, regardless of the peak-wavelength difference, the CWDM DFB lasers showed the low threshold currents (typ. 27mA) and the high slope efficiencies (typ. 0.27-0.33W/A) at 85℃. These results show that these lasers are suitable for using as the uncooled light source in CWDM applications.
