Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper investigates the optimum inter-Node B macro diversity for packet-based single-carrier-based Evolved UTRA uplink based on system-level simulations. More specifically, we clarify the gain of the inter-Node B soft handover (SHO) compared to that for hard handover (HHO) considering the gains obtained from packet-specific key techniques such as adaptive modulation and coding (AMC), hybrid ARQ with packet combining, channel-dependent scheduling, and slow open-loop transmission power control (TPC) that tracks only gradually the distance-dependent path loss and shadowing variations. Simulation results show that the macro diversity gain of the SHO compared to that for the HHO in the user throughput at the 5% cumulative distribution function (CDF) value is approximately 9, 11-13, and 2-4% at the sector throughput of 2, 3, and 5Mbps, respectively at the cell radius of a few hundred meters.
