Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper investigates the sector throughput using an intra-cell (intra-Node B) orthogonal pilot channel structure employing a combination of a sector-specific orthogonal sequence and a cell-specific (Node B-specific) scrambling code based on system-level simulations in the OFDM-based E-UTRA downlink. In the proposed orthogonal pilot channel, we exploit code division multiplexing (CDM) and frequency division multiplexing (FDM) to separate sectored beams and to separate streams (transmission antennas) in MIMO channel transmissions, respectively. Simulation results show that employing the proposed CDM-based orthogonal pilot channel among sectors, the user throughput for intra-Node B macro diversity users at the cumulative distribution function of 80% can be increased by approximately 30% compared to that using a sector-specific non-orthogonal pilot channel associated with sub-carrier shift mapping of pilot symbols. The resultant user throughput of greater than 30Mbps is achieved for the location probability of approximately 20% using a 10-MHz bandwidth with single-antenna transmission.
