Abstract(in English) The cognitive radio has emerged as a new concept for solving the excessive spectrum access. In this paper, we focus on the other important aspect of the cognitive radio: the protection of existing communications within the target bandwidth through the estimation of the environment. From this point of view, we propose a new concept of the cognitive radio and its realization emphasizing this aspect. As a first step, we introduce the proposed scheme by applying to wireless ad hoc networks in which all nodes are equipped with adaptive array antenna. The performance of the network with the proposed scheme is investigated through computer simulations.
