Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper reviews CMOS image sensors featuring column parallel analog signal processing. Column parallel high-gain amplifiers together with a special noise canceling technique are effective for reducing random readout noise. Using the column parallel high-gain amplifier with comparators or analog-to-digital(A/D) converters, low-noise signal readout while maintaining wide dynamic range can be achieved.. Column parallel cyclic A/D converters are very useful for high-speed signal readout of high-quality image. This feature can be utilized for extremely wide dynamic range image sensors using multiple exposure time signals and very high-speed video cameras. In this paper, several techniques of the column parallel analog processing, their applications and the future prospects are presented
