Damping Constants of Ni-Fe, Ni-Co, and Fe-Co Alloy Thin Films

Abstract(in English) Gilbert's damping constants, α, of Ni-Fe, Ni-Co, and Fe-Co thin films are determined by Q-band FMR analysis. α is calculated form the resonance width of the FMR spectrum, α of Ni_<85>Fe_<15> film is found to be 0.0034, which is one-forth of those of Ni film (α=0.013) and Co (α=0.012). α of the Ni_<100-x>Co_x specimens increases with decreasing the Co concentration from 100 to 68 at%, and the α value of Ni_<32>Co_<68> film has the maximum value of 0.0021. The α values of the Ni-Co specimens are nearly the same as those of the Co-Cr-Ta and the Co-Cr-Pt.
