Psychophysical Measurement of Effect of Delay of a Haptic Display on Difference Threshold : Effect of Delay on Sensitivity of Elasticity

Abstract(in English) Haptic displays are developed actively, and haptic media will be in widespread use. The haptic media is very sensitive to the network delay. In this report, we measured effect of feedback-delay on sensitivity of elasticity using psychophysical method. The results revealed that the difference threshold of elasticity does not increase when feedback-delay is not larger than 50ms, and increases when feedback-delay is larger than 50ms.
