A Proposal of Video Quality Opinion Model for Audiovisual Communication Services

Abstract(in English) Advances in broadband IP networks and codecs have enabled audiovisual communication services such as videophones, instant messaging, and teleconferencing that use speech and video to become popular as promising high-quality telecommunication services. Because quality is generally not guaranteed in an IP network, it is important to establish an overall quality estimation model. For the VoIP services, the objective quality estimation model such as E-model that can estimate speech quality efficiently has been established, but the quality estimation model has not for the audiovisual communication services. In this paper, we propose a video quality opinion model for network quality planning and management. The results indicated quality estimation accuracy was sufficient for practical use because the estimation errors of our model were less than the mean of the 99% confidence intervals for the subjective scores. Therefore, our model could be applied to effective design, implementation, and management of multimedia applications and networks.
