Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to identify tree crowns, we match tree crowns obtained by satellite imagery with ground measurement data based on location and the shape of the tree crowns. To estimate tree crowns from satellite images, Watershed algorithm is used for image segmentation. The segmented regions are then classified to obtain the tree crowns. Finally, the regions are replaced with an octagonal shape. Using the ground measurement data, on the other hand, the shape of the tree crowns are obtained by measuring the distance between the tree trunk and outermost branches in eight directions.
