Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The previous studies on revision processes have shown that the processing load of a revision process would increase in proportion to the difficulty in reconstructing the existing structure. Unlike these studies, this study indicates that the processing load would also increase if the interpretation of reconstructed structure is pragmatically implausible. We recorded the Event-Related brain Potentials elicited when the participants silently read the sentences. The results revealed that the N400 amplitude was larger when the interpretation of reconstructed structure was pragmatically less plausible, indicating that the sentence processor not only reconstructs the existing structure but also immediately computes the pragmatic plausibility of reconstructed structure during reanalysis. |
