Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | In the field of formal semantics, the 'family of sentences' tests have been known to distinguish presuppositions from assertions for English sentences. However, an endeavor to establish such tests in Japanese is confronted with the instability of judgments and the undecidability of constructions which serve as such tests. The present paper discusses various factors that give rise to the instability and introduces a strategy to suppress those factors in certain constructions. |
